Vincent J. Mercante Sr., 82, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2013 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family.
Vincent was born in Wilmington to the late Vincenzo and Nicoletta (Bernardo) Mercante. He was the proud of owner of Communications Printing, and was greatly respected by his peers in the printing industry. He was also an Army
veteran, and a member of St. John the Beloved Church. He was preceded in death by his brother John and his sister Angela.
Vince was a fantastic chef who loved cooking wonderful meals for his family and friends. He especially loved cooking special meals for holidays and sporting events.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Alice of 56 years, his children; Sharon Mercante and Ed, Jackie Francia and Gene, Vincent Mercante Jr. and Maureen, and Nicole Guariano and Sal, two sisters; Norma Mercante, Mary King and her husband James, and eight grandchildren; Devin, Morgan, Nicolette, Sarah, Tori, Sal, Olivia, and AJ.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 11, 11 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening, 6-8 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Rds., Wilmington. Interment will be at Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery for immediate family.
