Walter D. Mais

Walter D. Mais

Walter D. Mais, age 74, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and friends.

Walt attended Malverne High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. He was employed at several local auto dealers before opening his own business, Certified Auto Service, on Concord Pike in 1975 until his retirement.

He enjoyed spending time boating and working around his house.

Walt was such a kind and considerate man. He was always there to help a friend or someone down on their luck. Walt touched so very many lives and would rather help someone else than help himself. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Walt was predeceased by his daughter Barbara L. Mais. He is survived by his son Doug Mais and his wife Kate of Wilmington; three grandchildren Phillip, Stephanie, and Amanda all of Wilmington; brother Jim Mais of Ohio; godchildren Jamie Patton, Justin Carbonara, Jillian Mitchell and Hunter Patton, all of Wilmington.

Friends and family may visit from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at Walt's residence. Interment will be private.
