William A. Renn "Bill"

William A. Renn "Bill", 74, passed away at his home in Wilmington, Delaware in the early hours on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from complications due to an extended illness.

Bill was born on January 4, 1939 in Shamokin, PA to John and Victoria Renn. He attended P.S. DuPont High School, enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, and later worked for many years as a short order cook at the Post House in Newark, DE and in Wilmington, DE on Union St., Pennsylvania Ave., and Market St. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching football and baseball, and followed most of the Philadelphia teams. He enjoyed vacationing in Wildwood, NJ as well as in Cookeville, TN to visit his wife's family, a family as large and as close to him as his own. He was an avid gardener and took pleasure in watching the birds that visited the many bird feeders in his backyard. He joked with those he knew, as well as complete strangers all the time, and was known by his family and friends as fun-loving, jovial, and good humored.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, and son, William Jr., in Wilmington, DE, his brother Bob in Louisiana, his sister Sandy in Ohio, as well as his brother-in-law George Barone and an extremely large extended family of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Clara, Betty, Lorainne, and brothers Jack, Gilbert and Ken.

A visitation will be held on Friday January 11, from 11-12 followed by a 12pm service at Brandywine Valley Funeral Care 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the or the Helen F. Graham Center.
