Willitt "Bill" Beck

Willitt James Beck, age 92, of Hayward, WI and formerly of Newark, Delaware passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Valley of Hayward Nursing Home.

Willitt "Bill" Beck was born March 24, 1920 in New York, NY the son of Clefton and Beatrice (James) Beck. He attended Richmond Hill High School in New York before joining the U.S. Navy in 1938. He served during World War II and was honored with the American Defense, American Area, Asiatic-Pacific, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbons and the World War II Victory Medal. Bill continued to serve his county in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer on January 31, 1961. On July 16, 1944 Bill was joined in marriage to Irma "Terry" Remhild in New York, NY. Upon Bill's retirement from the Navy, he moved to Newark, DE where they resided for more than 40 years. Bill worked as a Safety Administrator and Inspector for an oil refining company and later Chrysler Motors. He was a member of the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church and the V.F.W. Post 475 in Newark, DE. Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife and volunteering as a clown for his local church or hospital. Bill and Irma moved to Hayward, WI in 2006. He was extremely gifted when it came to any type of handyman work and also enjoyed painting.

Bill is survived by his son, Douglas (Linda) Beck of Hayward; two grandchildren, Jaimee Bengs of Spooner, Natalie Beck of Cederville, OH; four great grandchildren, Franki Barker, Maddie Barker, Kennedy Barker, all of Cedarville, OH, Maryn Bengs of Spooner, WI; one great great granddaughter, Raelyn Barker; two step granddaughters, Amy (Dave) Francis of Woodbury, MN, Kelly Albrecht of Rice Lake, WI; five step grandchildren, Jake Sheehan, Jada Francis, Jackson Francis, Cooper Francis and Bodie Sheehan, all of Woodbury, MN; one sister-in-law, Evelyn (Al) Salvati of Kew Gardens, NY; one nephew, Marc (Theresa) Salvati of Queens, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma and one brother, Clefton Beck.

A committal service will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 14th, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Pastor Scott Ludford will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program.
