Lillian E. Sobel

Age 93, passed away on March 6, 2011.

Lillian was born and lived in Philadelphia until 2000 when she moved to Wilmington. She was a 1939 graduate of Olney High School. She worked in the family hobby shop business and had several clerical positions. She was active in Fight For Sight for many years and was an active member of Congregation B'nai Yitzhak in Philadelphia. She will be remembered for her relentless devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Cherished wife of 43 years of the late Harry A. Sobel, and daughter of the late Dora and Nathan Epstein. She was preceded in death by sisters, Joan Cooper, Esther Morganstein, Nettie Goldberg, and Rose Shender. Beloved mother of Dr. Edward R. Sobel (Anita), Norman R. Sobel (Andrea). Loving grandmother of Dara Barber (Daniel), Jaimie Russell (Chris), Rachel Sobel Fobes (Nick), and Alissa Sobel. Great-grandmother of Alec and Edan Russell and Jackson and Aja Barber.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 8, at 11 am at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 2701 Old Lincoln Highway, Trevose, PA. Shiva will be observed Tuesday evening at 7 pm at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Edward Sobel.

The family respectfully requests that contributions in her memory be made to Congregation Beth Shalom, 1801 Baynard Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19802 or a charity of the donor's choice.
