Patricia Cameron (Minker) Cannon

Patricia Cameron

(Minker) Cannon

Patt passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on April 20, 2013.

Born in 1942 in Wilmington, DE, Patt was a proud graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware.

Patt was most proud of her achievements during the latter years of her life as a resident of Centreville, DE. Patt was a long-time member of the Centreville Civic Association Board, served as President, as well as a member of the design review board for the Centreville Village. She was instrumental in the rebuilding of Smith's Bridge, one of the last covered bridges in Delaware, and organizing the Centreville Carolers. She worked with civic and community leaders in several small towns in and around northern Delaware to promote preservation of historical buildings and properties. It was Patt's strong will and perseverance that assisted in accomplishing many of the Centreville projects. Patt was a proud employee of Hagley Museum, where she made numerous lifelong friends and kept the history of Delaware and the DuPont family alive.

Patt was an avid sports fan, holding season tickets for her beloved Fightin' Blue Hens for over 30 years. She attended almost all of her son Bill's baseball games both when he played and also as a coach at Tower Hill.

Patt is survived by her two sons, William and Henry, his wife Felicia and his three sons, Brandon, John Charles (JC) and Andrew. She is also survived by the thousands of people she met and worked with throughout her life.

A special word of thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially nurse Tracie Jones, whose commitment and compassion made Patt's last few months of life a special experience.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday April 26, 2013 at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 101 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heartland Home Health and Hospice of Delaware, 256 Chapman Road, Suite 102, Newark, DE 19702.
