Molly Dunne Obituary
Molly K. Dunne, age 7, of Wilmington, DE passed away on May 17, 2012, at home surrounded by her family and friends after a long battle against Pulmonary Hypertension. On September 20, 2010, she collapsed on her first day of kindergarten. Molly was the 2nd child in the U.S. to be placed on an artificial lung called the Novalung at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Molly attended the Comprehensive Out-Patient Rehabilitation Program (CORP) at the Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children and was receiving home bound instruction through the Red Clay Consolidated School District. Molly was a huge fan of Miley Cyrus, Hello Kitty, Angry Birds, Build a Bear and in her leisure time she was an avid shopper.
Molly will be dearly missed by her parents, Kevin J. and Kristen L. (Porstman) Dunne as well as her older brother, Ryan and twin sister, Kaitlyn; maternal grandmother, Courtney T. Porstman; maternal grandfather, Robert Porstman; paternal grandfather, John Dunne; aunt Hilary Porstman and fiancé Louis Bennett; aunt, Maureen (Jim Shields); aunt, Kathleen McGurk (Christopher McGurk); aunt, Anne Marie Dunne; uncle, Michael Dunne, aunt, Regina Lutjen (Stephen Lutjen) and many great aunts, uncles and cousins. Molly was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Mary A. Dunne.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Cardiac Center at the Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, the CICU of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, CORP at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, Bayada Home Health Services and Vitas Hospice. In addition, a special thanks to all of the wonderful people who "Believed" in Molly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 22 at 12:30 pm at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, May 21 from 4-7 pm at St. John the Beloved Church. Burial will follow Mass in the All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Miracles for Molly Dunne Fund, P.O. Box 5109, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Years later as I come back to see your obituary and final resting words. I miss you and remember the pain and heartache your passing brought. All aside I will never forget the impact and legacy you left behind in your short years on this earth and thank you for everything you did! For those visiting nearly almost 9 years going on a decade later.. thank you for everything and the support you have given and continue even still to give. Years later as I often visit your obituary and live on in your memory, I will never forget the impact you left and the memories you gave. Mr & Mrs Dunne, i am so sorry for your loss of your little girl, Molly. I do not know you personnally, but i am 47 & have been battling a lung disease that most people get in their 60's. i was very inspired by Molly's story. I am keeping the faith that something new will become available for people with lung issues. I am praying for your family. denise

To Molly's Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister, Although your lives have been forever changed by God's decision to bring Molly home to Him, her spirit and the love she brought to your lives will forever be locked in your hearts. To Molly's Grandparents, I send a special prayer for all of you. Not only have you lost one of our most precious gifts, a loving granddaughter, but you must also find the strength to help your son and daughter as they try to find the right way to care for themselves and their other children. My own small challenge will be to try to help my granddaughter, one of Kate's classmates, to understand something that none of us really do.

Becauses you chose to share Molly and her story with the world, Molly has had and impact in her 7 short years that many people cannot achieve in 50 years or more. I cried reading this today. Molly was and remains a miracle to me. She may not have received the miracle we hoped for, complete healing, but she received one that is often mistaken for loss.... an eternity in the arms of Jesus.
