Alice Denise Bennett Cooper, age 62, of Wilmington, DE passed away on August 1, 2013.

Denise was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Cora Whittaker Bennett. She graduated Conrad High School in 1969 and the University of Delaware in 1973, with a B.A. in Education.

She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Sarah and Amanda. She proudly raised her girls and enjoyed traveling to visit with them. She valued her friendships and their shared memories. Denise's joy was her family and friends.

Denise participated in multiple organizations and was an engaged member in many communities. She religiously attended eight o'clock services at Immanuel- Highland Church on Sundays. She enthusiastically jazzercised for over thirty years and maintained the jazzercise spirit in daily life. She enjoyed Bunco, singing in chorus, and reading books for her book club. She also enjoyed being a sought after sales associate at Great Stuff, a resale shop that benefits the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

Her parents, Cora Emily Whittaker Bennett and Thomas Bennett, Jr., predecease Denise. She is survived by daughters, Sarah and Amanda Cooper, her beloved dog, Duffy, brother, Thomas Bennett, III and his wife, Glen Esther, niece, Tamara Bennett Quirk, goddaughter, Corin Bennett-DeCubellis, nephew, Thomas Bennett IV (Tucker), Jeff Cooper and his parents, Naomi and Jim Cooper and their family, as well as friends, who meant so much to her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel-Highlands Episcopal Church, 2400 W. 17th Street, Wilmington, DE, 19806. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grace Episcopal Cemetery, Wilmington.
