The Guest Book is expired.
Alice, 87, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side following a short and courageous battle.
She lived her entire life in Delaware. Alice graduated from Alexis I. DuPont High School and married the only man she ever loved Pvt. Raymond E. Brock of Bedford, Indiana on July 5, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Corinne Kendall of Elsmere. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1991; her brothers, George and John Kendall; and her twin sisters, Sarah and Laura.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Marcus (Rick) of Elkton, MD; her sons, Raymond G. Brock, Sr. of Wilmington, DE, and Charles Brock (Karen) of Merrill, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Scott Arrants (Danielle) , Stephen Arrants (Joni), Raymond (Buddy) Brock, Jr. (Michelle), Kevin Brock (Adrienne), Tia Cooper (Shon), Kari Entenmann (Arlo), and Coleen Brock. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Norman and Harry Kendall. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunt Alice" dearly.
Alice was a leader and take charge person from an early age. She had her own Elsmere Insurance Agency before beginning her banking career with Home Federal Savings and Loan. After her "retirement" from banking she went to work for Red Carpet Travel in accounting.
She loved roses and there was always a new Jackson & Perkins catalogue coming in the mail. She very much enjoyed watching The Lawrence Welk Show & Jeopardy on TV. She bowled in leagues several nights a week when her husband Raymond was alive. More recently she enjoyed painting—both oil and china, and if her friend Suzanne called to see if she wanted to go for a ride in the country she was ready to go.
Alice loved to travel. She traveled around the world with her friends Helen and Winnie. Also, her association with Quota International took her to all corners of the world for conferences. She also went to Australia twice, all over Europe, Old Saints Andrews in Scotland, Turkes and Caicos and other tropical islands. She also cruised through the Alaskan passage more than once and sailed on the QE II.
She absolutely loved ballroom dancing and all of the friends that she made while taking lessons and competing in showcases at the dance studio. She acquired a nice collection of trophies and a wonderful circle of friends.
Her affiliations include 55 years of service with the Elsmere Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President for 8 years and treasurer for many, many years. She also served as New Castle County Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary for 18 years. On the state level she served as Trustee for the Mutual Relief Fund. Alice also made many friends all over the world and in her local club as a member of Quota International for 37 years. Lastly, she has been a long time member of Concord Chapter of AARP.
Alice was loved and will be dearly missed by all of her many friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service Saturday morning, March 30, at 10 am at the Elsmere Fire Co., 1107 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere. Friends may call at the Elsmere Fire House Friday evening from 5-7 pm. Interment will follow at the Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
