Tony was born in Wilmington on November 16, 1927, son of the late Frank and Mary (Jordan) Tartaglio.

Tony attended St. Thomas the Apostle School and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945. As a veteran of the United States Army, he was a tank driver in the 2nd Armored 'Hell on Wheels' Division and achieved the rank of Corporal. In 1947, he became a member of the VFW Drum and Bugle Corps, serving as a tenor drummer until 1950, where he met his future bride, June. Tony worked at General Motors from 1947 to 1952, and then joined the DuPont Company as a millwright at the XStation. He retired in 1985 after 33 years of dedicated service. Tony enjoyed grocery shopping, road trips with his wife, cooking and watching his favorite shows.

Tony will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, June (Clancy) known to him as "Flower of the World"; daughters, Donna Ward (Jim), Debbie Cofrancisco (Carlo), Dawn Lisowski (Mike), Doreen Stewart (Rick) and Dina Alexander (Bill), 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 6 nephews. In addition, a childhood friend of 80 years, Chip Prucino and fiesty cooking rival, Josephine Tardona. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Tartaglio and his sister, Frances Hazeltine.
