Anton W. Benson

Anton W. Benson, 91, of Wilmington, died on February 21, 2013.

Anton was born in Wilmington, the only child of Anton and Rebecca Benson. He proudly served our country in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Benson worked for the former Phoenix Steel Company, retiring as a cost estimator. A member and Past Master of Eureka Lodge, #23, A.F.&A.M, he had been a Mason for 72 years. Anton had also been a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Millcreek Hundred.

He is survived by his daughter, Jean Marie Simpson; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; their daughter, Carolyn Ann Hersh, and their grandson, Brian Simpson.

A viewing will be held, beginning at 10 am, Thursday, Feb. 28, and the funeral service will be held at 11 am, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy. (Rt. 2 East at Duncan Rd). Interment will be at Silverbrook Memorial Park.
