Charlotte E. Laws

Charlotte E. Laws, age 94, a life long resident of Glasgow, DE passed away on February 5, 2013.

She started her education at Brooks Hall and graduated from Newark High School in 1936. She graduated from Beacom College in 1937 and Civil Service Preparatory Training Institute in 1938.

She began her employment as a local part time correspondent for the News Journal. She continued her employment with the Relief Unit of N.C.C. Continental Diamond Fibre Co., the Budd Co. Polychem Division and finally the University of Delaware.

She was a member of the Pencader State Grange and of the Dramatic Society of Glasgow. Charlotte's enjoyable pastimes included a love of music. She played the violin and sang with the Grange and other local groups. Her greatest joy came in caring for her nieces, nephews, great niece and nephew and great great nephews and niece. She loved all of her "babies".

She was preceded in death by her parents Delaware E. Laws and Harriet C. Laws (Boys) and her brothers and sister, Delaware E. Jr., Harold C. and Jeannette, also Jeanette's husband Henry W. Brooks, Sr. She is survived by her nephew Henry W. Brooks, Jr., her nieces Melissa Brooks (FLA) and Jeanne Brooks-DiClemente (Raymond) with whom she lived. She also leaves her beloved puppy "Sasha".

The family wants to express their gratitude to the staff of Broad Meadow Rehabilitation and Care Facility in Middletown, DE for their loving care. Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Delaware.

A viewing will be held on Monday February 11, 2013 from 10-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am at Beeson Funeral Home 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE 19702. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City, MD.
