hristine Helen Fortunato of Newark, aged 86, passed away on December 22, 2012 after a brief illness.

Chris was born December 6, 1926 in Wyomissing, PA, she was the daughter of Howard and Helen Lutz.
Chris was always active. After receiving her degree in Physical Therapy from Boston College, she moved to Wilmington and worked at the Delaware Curative Workshop where she met her husband Steven. Besides devoting attention to Steven's company, Fortunato Family Homes co-owned with his brother Franny, they enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. After raising her children, she returned to work at DCW until Steven died in 1990. Chris always kept active and busy by running errands for her many wonderful friends, keeping close with her children and grandchildren, reading, and taking Le-oh, her beloved companion Labrador Retriever on his daily walks.
In addition to her parents and brother Howard (during World War Two), she was preceded in death by her husband Steven in 1990. Chris is survived by her children Elizabeth Fortunato and Tom Cherny of New Stanton PA; Stephanie Fortunato and her husband Barry Bank of West Chester PA; Howard Fortunato and his wife Mary of Wilmington; and Fred Fortunato and his wife Colleen of Newark. She is survived by her grandchildren Chrissy Rozell (& husband Frank), Torie Stewart (and husband Bobby), Andrea Fortunato, Steve Fortunato, Vincent Blewitt, Anthony Fortunato, and Laura Fortunato.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 276 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19711. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5-7 pm, at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805.
The family requests that contributions be made to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ocheltree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808, in lieu of flowers.
