Daniel Webster Stayathome

Daniel Webster Stayathome, age 51, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

Dan was born in Stillwell, Oklahoma on February 6, 1961 to the late Barbara (Bromwell) and Webster L. Stayathome.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, family man and friend to many. He came to prominence in the 1980's as an esteemed painter and spent the majority of his career working for Statewide Restorations. Dan had a very unique character; he truly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends and spent his weekend gatherings embracing what life was about, "good times with good people." Dan, AKA Captain Dan, also enjoyed fishing, but his true love and excitement was for loading his boat and crabbing in the waters of his beloved Chester River.

In addition to his beloved wife of 24 years, Bernadette; he is also survived by his 4 children: sons, Bryan Stayathome, Daniel Eckstorm; daughters, Tara Stayathome, Victoria Stayathome; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Vicki (John) DiCriscio, Sue (Victor) Berti; brother, Robert Stayathome; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anita and Chip Elwood; three special nieces: Danielle, Lindsey and Tina; and three special nephews: Shawn, Alek and CJ. Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Hopi Stayathome in 1994.

His family and friends will forever cherish the many years of memories that were created by this man. Dan loved life and saw endless possibilities for all.

The family would also like to express sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the love and kindness we received during this difficult time. During our journey we were blessed to have friends and family members who carried our fears and fought our fight. We may have lost the battle, but we gained something much more valuable that will be cherished for eternity, "memories".

The family will honor Dan's wishes and conduct a private Memorial Service held in his honor by invitation only. To express an online condolence, visit www.strano-feeley.com.
