Dora L. (Tallio) Rossi Obituary
Dora L. (Tallio) Rossi

Dora L. (Tallio) Rossi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in W. Norriton, PA. She was 95. Mrs. Rossi was a former resident of King of Prussia, PA. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA and their BVM Sodality and Congrega. She worked the Feast for decades and loved to do it. Dora was the first female lector at Sunday Mass. She was one of the founding members of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School's Mothers' Club.

After graduation from Milroy High School in 1935, she lived with her sister in Leominister, MA and worked there for several years. She was an extrovert who loved being around people and was a great optimist and encourager. Our mother liked to call herself a "domestic engineer" and she did a good job of it. She learned to be a peacemaker and her one goal was to encourage us to live our faith and to become productive members of society. She and our dad provided a home for her parents until they both died, and willingly shared her kitchen with our grandmother, Maria, who was a fabulous Italian cook. Mom loved to bowl and she exercised doing aquacize - doing both until her 80's. She loved going to the senior center, playing pinochle, and any card game that she could get her children and/or grandchildren to play with her. Toward the end of her life she discovered her "voice" and loved to sing. She was in the talent shows at the Senior Center and started a sing-a-long at the Jefferson Apartments where she lived. At family gatherings she would get the grandchildren around her and tell them about what it was like when she was young, and she always had quotes clipped from magazines and newspapers that she would share with them and discuss with them. She was our prayer warrior and we all loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.

Born on August 30, 1917 in Nageney, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest child of Maria and Bernardino Tallio. Survivors include Angela Malmgren (Christian) and children: Christian, Pamela, Ross and Cynthia of Wilmington, DE & Acworth, GA; Frances Photias (Dr. George N.) and children: Renee, Yvonne, George and Greg of Las Vegas, NV. & Palm Springs, CA; Carol Ann Ross (Ron Gomez) of Lafayette, LA; Maria Profrock (Ron); Dolores Helsel (Daniel) & children: Jacqueline & Daniel of Schwenksville & Philadelphia, PA; Albert Rossi, Jr. & children: Nicole, Rachel & Tom of Norristown, PA, Georgia and Alabama; Anthony Rossi (Claire) & daughter, Megan of Schwenksville, PA; 21 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Carl Rossi, Sr.; grandsons, Albert C. Rossi, II and Alexander J. McGarvey, Jr; brother, Anthony Tallio, sister, Frances and her parents.

Relatives & friends are invited to Dora's Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St. Bridgeport, PA on Saturday, February 2, at 10 am. Her viewings are Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA; also Saturday morning from 9 to 9:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
