Elizabeth G. Welsh

Elizabeth "Betty" Welsh, 87, of Wilmington, formerly of Succasunna, N.J., died on November 21, 2012 at Heartland Hospice.

Betty was born in West New York, N.J. in 1925, the fourth of six siblings. Betty was employed at Allied Chemical as a customer service representative for more than 30 years. She relocated from Succasunna to Wilmington in 2000 to be closer to her family. Betty loved to be surrounded by people and was a member of DelVets and The Church of the Holy Child and its Lazarus Committee. The greatest joy in her life was being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Martin Amis of Wilmington; 3 grandsons: Matthew and his wife, Sarah; Drew and Meg Keating; and Martin and his fiancée Eva Keller; 2 brothers, Robert Caso of Maywood, N.J. and Clement Caso and his wife, Betty, of Toms River, N.J.; her sister, Amelia Scribano of Palisades Park, N.J.; several nieces and nephews; and her first great-grandson, to be named Alex Peter Amis, who is due in January. Her husband of 56 years, Peter Welsh, died in 2010.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 24 at The Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, where a viewing will be held from 10am-11am. Interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. To honor the wonderful care Betty received at Shipley Manor, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shipley Manor, 2723 Shipley Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
