Elizabeth Samluk Yasik
Elizabeth S. Yasik of Newark, DE, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Liz loved God and the Immaculate Conception dearly. She was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Antonina Deptula Samluk. She went to school at St. Hedwig's and St. Paul's High School. After finishing her schooling, she went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. as an administrative assistant.
Liz then remained at home to raise her children. She was a volunteer at Ursuline Academy, St. Edmond's Academy and Archmere Academy. She was the president of the Archmere Academy Mother's Guild in 1977 and 1978. Liz was also a volunteer at the Wilmington Flower Market for over 20 years.
After raising her children, she became a realtor and attended the University of Delaware for her real estate brokers course. She also attended Wesley College, the University of Maryland and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a Certified Residential Specialist and a Graduate of the Real Estate Institute. She held her licences in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. She enjoyed helping people, and she loved real estate.
Liz enjoyed travelling to Europe, making several trips to Lourdes. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and going to St. Michaels. She cherished the time she spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, Liz is predeceased by her siblings; Boleslaus Samluk, Jesse W. Samluk, Lucy Samluk, Helen Orzechowski, Anne Finnochario, Martha Samluk, John P. Samluk and Bernadette Samluk.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Stanley J. Yasik, III and her loving children: Elizabeth A. Yasik, MD of Landenberg, PA, John S.Yasik (Christine) of Landenberg, PA, Antoinette E. Wilkins of Wilmington, DE, Joseph S. Yasik, Christopher S. Yasik (Dawn) and Anastasia E. Yasik, Ph.D. all of Newark, DE, her grandchildren: Jonathan Yasik, Kenneth and Rachel Wilkins, Katherine and Alexander Yasik, Lisa Bowers and Anastasia E. Yasik. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, 408 S. Harrison St, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Ashland, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Hedwig Church, Ursuline Academy, St. Edmond's Academy or Archmere Academy.
