Age 85, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2012 from complications of Alzheimer's. She was born in Deland, Florida on October 23, 1926 to Elivra Edris Wootten and Francis Wootten. Elizabeth attended and graduated high school in Seattle, Washington before moving back to Florida. There she met former husband, the late Michael Simmons, married, and eventually settled in Delaware.

Elizabeth was a housewife and mother for many years before attaining her realtor's license and working for H. H. Rosen & Company in Wilmington. In her retirement, she volunteered for the Richardson Park Community Center. She was an avid gardener, adventurous cook, and formidable Scrabble opponent.
She is survived by her children, Michael Simmons, Paul Simmons, Stuart Simmons, Patricia Carr, Patrick Simmons, and Amy Francisconi and her eight, adored grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Mary Bradford, as well as 'step'children Gerri Conn and Sandy Link of late partner Stanley Joachimowski.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 7th at Mealey Funeral Home located at 2509 Limestone Rd. in Wilmington where visitation will begin after 10am.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth's family suggests donations in her memory to Vitas Charitable Fund, 100 Commerce Dr., Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713 or St. Matthew's R.C. Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804.
