Frances Ann (Greer) Wilson Obituary
Frances Ann (Greer) Wilson

AGE: 88 • Wilmington

Passed away peacefully on July 17, 2014 with her loving daughters by her side. Born Frances Ann Greer on May 31, 1926 to James and Lillian Greer, Frances graduated from Saint Paul's Catholic Elementary School and Wilmington High School. She married William J. Wilson, whom she called "Kiddo," on Valentine's Day, 1953. In return, Dad affectionately called Frances "Flower." They celebrated 42 years of married life together before he passed away 19 years ago. Frances selflessly cared for both her husband and mother during the last years of their lives.

Frances had her own brand of quiet and amazing strength and a wonderful sense of humor that infused everyday life and the best of times with laughter. This same wonderful sense of humor and wit helped her to handle life's challenges. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Frances was a simple woman, but definitely had her favorite things. She loved babies and the the beach, Irish music and Saint Patrick's Day. She loved breakfast, cheese and crackers, and spaghetti and ravioli. Rarely seen without her lipstick and jewelry, Frances loved to dance at weddings. She set a beautiful table for holidays and gatherings, looked forward to daily 8 a.m. Mass; loved John Wayne, Frank Sinatra and Rod Stewart. She loved daffodils, parades and bright colors. At the end of the day, Frances, Flower, Aunt Francie, Grandma Cookie - was quite a beautiful rainbow, and we loved all of her shades.

In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by sons Jim and John. Frances is survived by her oldest daughter, Jayne Vespa and husband Joe, of Doylestown, PA, with whom she lived and was so beautifully cared for in the last three years of her life; daughters Elizabeth West(Claude) and Kate Bianchino(Andrew) of Wilmington; sons Bill(Maricella) of Puerto Rico, and Michael of Wilmington, and daughter-in-law Tara Strauss, whom she loved like a daughter; twelve grandchildren: Greer, Michael, Matthew, Jamie, Whitney, Patrick, Annie, Michael, Isabelle, Billy, Sam and Luke. Frances has 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Memorial contributions may be made in Frances's memory to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
