Frances T. Christy
The Guest Book is expired.
Our beloved Frances, known to many as "Mom Mom," passed from this life to be with our Lord on October 19, 2013 at the age of 91. She died peacefully at the home of her daughter knowing that she was loved and in good care. Frances was born in Wilmington on May 15, 1922 to the late John Francis and Catherine Walsh (Hogan).
She attended St. Mary's grade school and Commercial Course and worked at Triumph Industries during the WWII war effort. She married her husband George (Chris) Christy (Krysztopolski) and they shared 67 years of marriage before his death in 2010. Fran felt great fulfillment and pride in her role as a wife, mother and caregiver. She gracefully took exceptional care of her husband during the many years of his illness. She was a gentle soul who touched the hearts of so many and made friends wherever she went.
She looked for the good in others and "sparkled" on the inside as well as on the outside. Frances enjoyed decorating, shopping, dancing, trips to Delaware Park and her Thursdays at Maureen's Hair Salon. Her greatest joy was her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Yvonne Arles (Keith) and Yvette Drazich (Rick); her beloved grandchildren Brandon (Carolyn), Brittany and Dylan; many nieces and nephews of the Walsh, Hogan and Christy families; and her special friends Betty, Joan and Auntie Marge. In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her siblings Mary Hughes (Mickey) and Joseph Walsh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road Wilmington, on Friday, October 25 at 11 am, where visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Mark's High School, 2501 Pike Creek Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 or Partners in Health, PO Box 845578, Boston, MA 02284-5578.
