Of Garnet Valley, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, age 83, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2013, surrounded by many family members.

Jim was born in LaGrange, Illinois on September 28, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Carolyn Andersen and his sisters, Miriam Bond and Audrey Reigle.

Jim graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in chemical engineering, and was active in the NROTC program and Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. He served as a naval office in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Guerke.

During Jim's engineering career, he worked for Sun Oil, Hercules and Himont, retiring in 1993.

In his early years, Jim enjoyed fishing, sailing and coaching little league.

In Jim's later years, he enjoyed refurbishing cars, spending time on the computer, traveling and spending summer vacations in Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, DE with his family.

Jim was an active member of the local Episcopal Church, having served on the vestry among other church activities.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Kathryne Greaves Andersen and his six children, Jim (Marie) of Elkton, MD, Linda Wilson of Chagrin Falls, OH, Debbie (Don) Herrman of Diamond Bar, CA, Nancy

(John) Nuzzolo of Hampton, NH, Cynthia (Matthew) Ford of Wilmington, DE, Tom (Christie) of Kennett Square, PA as well as 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday in Trinity Old Swedes Episcopal Church, 606 Church St., Wilmington, DE. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the or Delaware Hospice.
