Jerome "Jerry" P. Broussard

Jerome "Jerry" P. Broussard died at his home on Sunday, November 25, 2012 of ALS. His loving wife of 54 years, Claudette, was at his side. He was 83.

Jerry was born in New Orleans, the only child of Frank and Anna Broussard. When he was a baby, the family moved to Port Arthur, TX, where he spent his boyhood. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston and began his career with the DuPont Company at Sabine River Works in Orange, TX. Subsequent moves from manufacturing, technical service, sales, marketing and management led him to Wilmington, New York City, Atlanta, Columbia, TN, and back to Wilmington. He retired in 1985, and, along with Claudette, began a public relations and marketing consulting service aimed at helping small businesses. Jerry spent eight years as a volunteer with SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives). He was active in his local civic association and loved politics. He was the author of New Thinking for New Products. He was a problem solver and a thinker, a great golfer who loved life with a wonderful sense of humor. Jerry loved his family and was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Donna Broussard of Severna Park, MD; his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Andy Merz of Swarthmore, PA; and his grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Patrick Broussard and Tracey, Geoffrey and David Merz; many cousins and special family friend Bob Merz.

The family wishes to thank the ALS staff at Drexel University Hospital and the nurses and caregivers at Delaware Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1st from 12-12:45 pm at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 7 Old Church Rd., Greenville, DE 19807. Mass of Christian Burial will begin promptly at 1 pm. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's memory may be sent to the ALS Hope Foundation, P.O. Box 40777, Phila., PA 19107 or Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilm., DE 19810.
