Bainbridge
John Seaman Bainbridge peacefully died January 25, 2006 at Crosslands in Kennett Square, PA.
He graduated from Harvard University and received his law degree from Columbia. He served in the US Navy as a lieutenant commander during World War II. Mr. Bainbridge practiced as an attorney. He was assistant dean at Columbia University Law School and director of the Project on Staffing of African Institutions of Legal Education and Research. As a dean, he worked to gain accreditation for many new law schools including Pace University, Northern Illinois College of Law and Touro College School of Law.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Liu Bainbridge; son, John Seaman Bainbridge, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; and 3 stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 2 pm on Sunday, February 26, at Crosslands, 102 Crosslands Dr., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia University School of Law, 435 W. 116th St., New York, NY 10027.
