John Edgar Kincaid Foltz

AGE: 95 • Dover

John Edgar Kincaid Foltz of Dover passed away Sunday April 13, 2014 at Westminster Village. He was 95. Mr. Foltz was born August 14, 1918 in Elkton, Maryland to the late Tunis C. Foltz and Sarah Kemether Foltz.

He had served in the United States Army. During World War II Mr. Foltz served in the United States Army Air Corps as a 1st Lt. Pilot. Mr. Foltz also served in the US National Guard Reserves as a Major, the Army Reserves and the Delaware National Guard. During his military career he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Order Yun Hui for service to China, Air Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Bronze Service Star, 2 Military Merit Medals and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. After his military career he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad retiring in 1982 after 30 years. Mr. Foltz was an avid reader, enjoyed singing barbershop quartet, and dancing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanore Mackie Foltz in 1993; brother Tunis Foltz and sister, Louise Foltz Moore. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Nellie Armstrong Mackey Foltz of Dover; sons, John Foltz and his wife Janet of Dover, Hollen Foltz and his wife Wanda of Clayton, Stephen Foltz and his wife Kathleen of Norwich, VT., and Richard Foltz and his wife Linda of Palatine, IL; grandchildren, Eric Foltz, Kara Swansiger, Stephanie Stevens, Anna, Holly, Tucker, Jordan, and Aaron Foltz, 2nd Lt. Nathan Foltz, USAF and Private 1st Class Bethany Foltz, US Army; great granddaughter, Sydney Swansiger and great grandson, Bryan Swansiger.

Memorial services will be held 11AM, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in the Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE., 19901.
