John J. Ford

John Joseph Ford, 86, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania passed away, Saturday, October 5, 2013.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12th at the Chapel in the community of Maris Grove, 200 Maris Grove Way in Glen Mills, PA, 19342. Reverend Michelle Collins will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the .

John was born March 20, 1927 in Staten Island, N.Y. to John J. and Elizabeth Ann (Tattum) Ford. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany as a member of the Army of Occupation. Then he graduated from Wagner College, Staten Island, N.Y. in 1951 with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry. He earned an M.S. Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University in 1954. John enjoyed gardening, woodworking, listening to classical music, writing poetry, and watching his favorite baseball team, the Phillies.

He married his beloved wife, Joanne C. Huested in 1951. She preceded him in death in 2008. He was the loving brother of Elizabeth Jacobsen, Alyce Gooding, and George Ford, all deceased. He is survived by his three children, John J. Ford of Carneys Point, N.J., and his wife Jeannette, Kathleen A. McKay of Wilmington, DE and her husband, Laurence R., and Gail Ford Geiszler of San Jose, CA and her husband, Carl; three adoring grandchildren, Shelley, Maura, and Kevin Geiszler.

John was employed by Hercules Inc., and resided in Wilmington, DE from 1954-1997. He retired in 1989 after 35 years of service. He and his wife Joanne relocated to Homosassa, FL in 1997. In 2009, he moved to Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA. Condolences may be made by visiting www.meyersfh.com
