Age 96, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loving family and friends, in Wilmington, DE on May 16, 2013.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary (Charamella); brothers, Anthony and James; sisters, Yolanda (Corozzi), Fannie (Chesaroni) and Norma (Grossi); and granddaughter, Kathy Collins. He is survived by sisters Rose (DeGuglielmo) and Marie (Astolfi) and sons, Joseph, Jr. and wife Vicky of Wildwood, MO; Donald of Wilmington; Richard of San Jose, CA; and Michael and partner James Sweeney III of Wilmington. Joe is also survived by four grandchildren, Sharon O'Malley, Joseph Pellicone III, Shael Collin Pellicone, and Taryn Mari Pellicone; two great-grandchildren, Sharon and Alex; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the Air Force 452nd bomber squadron during WWII. After service, Joe worked for the Speakman Company over 40 years in research and development and then part-time as security at the Brandywine Racetrack.

Always active, Joe enjoyed a wide variety of interests. He built a machine shop in his basement, where he created custom-made brass items such candlesticks, bells, and oil lamps. Joe was also deeply involved with Saint Anthony's parish in Wilmington, serving in many capacities and on countless committees throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. Joe especially enjoyed relaxing and spending time with friends at the Saint Anthony social club.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to caregiver Jamine Harley, who provided extraordinary care to Joe at home over the past year, as she had also done for Mary before her death.
