Leo M. Papili, 83 of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

Leo was born in Wilmington on December 13, 1929, son of the late Serafino and Maria (Petrucci) Papili. A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served our country during the Korean War Era and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College and was employed with the Phoenix Steel Corporation, retiring after more than 38 years of service. Following his career with Phoenix Steel, he was employed with Erectix Corporation for 8 years. Leo was a life-time, dedicated member of St. Elizabeth's Church, where he served on the Parish Council, Athletic Association, Carnival Committee, Boy Scouts Fathers' Committee and Youth Group Committee. Above all, Leo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Leo is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy (Lange) Papili; his children, Tony Papili, Michael Papili and wife, Diane Caserta, Billy Papili and Diane McAvoy and husband, Bradley; his grandchildren, Kelly, Carly, Michael and wife, Kristy, Angela, Gina, Peter, Monica, Catherine, Alexis, Noah and Brianna; and his great grandchildren, Piero, Umberto and Lanzo. He is also survived by his brother, John Papili and wife, Betty; his sister-in-law, Linda (Lange) Ross and husband, Bill; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Philip "Pooch" Saggione.

Leo was predeceased by his brothers, Dominic, Alfred, Olimpio "Pip" and, most recently, Louis; and his sister, Elsie.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Elizabeth's Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Thursday, December 27 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Friday, December 28 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
