Leon T. Wingate
AGE: 90 • Millsboro
Mr. Leon T. Wingate of Millsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was 90 years old. Mr. Wingate was born in Laurel, DE on May 30, 1926 to the late Norman T. and Marjorie Wilkerson Wingate. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Wingate in 1992 as well as a brother Vernon and a sister Doris. Leon retired from Delmarva Power and Light where he worked in Sales and Marketing and various other positions throughout his career. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during WWII. Leon was a graduate of Laurel High School. He loved fishing, hunting, playing pinochle, the Philadelphia Phillies and UD Football. He was a kind, and gentle man who had a dry sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances Moore Wingate of Millsboro, DE; two sons, Thomas L. Wingate and his wife Tammy of Macungie, PA; Edison G. Wingate and his wife Heidi of Germantown, TN; a sister, Naomi Lare of Laurel, DE as well as four grandchildren. He is also survived extended family and friends. A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11 AM till 1 PM for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Millsboro Little League, P.O. Box 674, Millsboro, DE 19966. Letters of condolence may be emailed via www.watsonfh.com

Tom, I was deeply saddened to read of your father's passing. Having lost my dad a few years ago, I think I know what you are going thru. While it hurts now, time will ease the pain. You will always have the memories of your time together.
I can't get up there to see you and Tammie, but know that I will be thinking of and praying for you and your family. May God bless you all and comfort your grief.
