Leonard E. Hamilton Jr.

Leonard E. Hamilton Jr., age 85, of Millsboro (Riverdale), DE, passed away on October 3, 2012. Born in Wilmington, DE.

He was the son of the late Leonard and Elva Hamilton.

Preceded in death by his wife Betty and sister Ruth Maichle. He graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School in 1944.

Mr. Hamilton served in the US Navy in the Pacific theater as a Machinist Mate Third Class. He was being trained as a coxswain on landing craft when WWII ended.

After being discharged, he served in the Merchant Marines as a machinist on oil tankers for the Sun Oil Co. Mr. Hamilton retired from the Wilmington Shops of the Du Pont Company after 34 years service as a machinist.

Len was an avid fisherman spending many happy days on the Indian River Bay and off the Indian River Inlet.

He was a member of Oak Orchard Riverdale American Legion Post #28.

He is survived by his brothers: Raymond, Millsboro (Riverside), Kenneth, West Chester, PA and Wayne, Wilmington; sisters: Beverly White, Middletown, Jane Reffke, Appleton, WI and Lois Drummond, Delaware City.

Services will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware on October 11, at 11 am.
