Gretta Pope, age 84, of Wilmington, De passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012.

She was born in Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland, the daughter of Nora and Thomas Sice. Memories of Gretta will always be related to her extraordinary homemaking abilities. She loved her home, decorating, collecting antiques, creating fabulous meals, hosting wonderful parties. She also enjoyed traveling, spending time in Florida and New Bedford, Massachusetts visiting her sister-in-law Marilyn L. Buckley and nieces Carolyn Sonza, Jessica Sonza and Elicia Cormier, who still reside there..

Gretta enjoyed taking her family on an Atlantic cruise to visit and learn the Irish traditions. She enjoyed visiting relatives in Ireland, England and Scotland, enjoying their food, songs, dancing and most of all their company. She loved to watch her children play in the ruins of castles.

Gretta was predeceased by her husband, Richard H. Pope Sr and many of her sixteen brothers and sisters: six children died between birth and the age of two and also deceased are: Michael, Winnie, Mary Kate, Thomas Martin and John, Gretta's son-in-law, Sean Mulhern also preceded her in death. She is survived by her two children; Colleen Pope Mulhern and Richard H. Pope Jr, and her beloved grandchildren, Felicia and Victoria Pope, who diligently cared for their "Nana". Siblings, Delia Irwin, Billy Sice and Ann Marie Flynn also survive Gretta. There are numerous surviving nieces and nephews living in the U.S., Ireland and England.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November, 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing at church beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow mass at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, DE.
