Michael H Ambrose,

Age 67, of Newark, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 28, 2012 after a valiant 14-month battle with lung cancer.

Mike was a graduate of Girard College, Temple University and the University of Delaware. He retired from the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, where he was the accountant. A Vietnam veteran, Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army, was a life member of VFW Post 3792 in Middletown, and was a member of the New Castle County Planning Board for 12 years ending in 1994. His parents, Henry P. and Antonette (Pompetti) Ambrose predeceased him.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Catherine (Hearn) Ambrose, his son Daniel H. and wife Julie of Reston, VA, his son David M. and wife Michele Santamaria of Bear, DE, his grandson, Hunter, and Mike's beloved cat, Amber. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen A. Fletcher of Texas, and by many other friends and relatives.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 4, 2013, 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE. Calling hours will be Thursday evening, 6-8 P.M. at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Rds., Wilmington. There will not be calling hours on Friday morning. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
