Age 81, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012.
She was the wife of the late Thomas R. Poe, Sr.
Born August 1, 1930 in Gary, WV, she was the daughter of the late William T. Callahan and Nannie Choate Callahan. She attended school in Gary, graduating from Gary District high School Class of 1948. Nancy was a member of Greater Emmanuel Temple Church in Kennett Square, where she was the Church Mother, a Missionary, and taught Sunday school. She also served previously as an Usher and sang with the Missionary Choir. Some of her favorite songs were, Through it all, I've learn to trust in Jesus, How Great Thou Art and It's Another Day the Lord has Kept Me. She also loved traveling and vacationing, especially cruising to places such as Alaska, Barbados and Israel. Other leisure times included secret word puzzles, crossword puzzles and reading.
Surviving to cherish her memory her children, Thomas Ray Poe, Jr. of New Castle, DE, Daniel William Poe of Oxford, PA, Jacquline Theresa Poe Norton of Wilmington, DE, James Edward Poe, of Providence, RI, Jerry Franklin Poe, Sr. of Kennett Square, PA, Herbert Conley Poe of Newark, DE, Sandra Madeline Poe of Kennett Square, PA, Joy Rebecca Boyd of Newark, DE and Beatrice Alicia "Lisa" Harmon of Newark, DE; 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Westley C. Callahan and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Alexander Poe.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 11 AM at the Greater Emmanuel Temple Church, Pemberton Rd & Cedar Springs Lane, Kennett Square, PA. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9-11 AM at the church. Interment will be at the Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
Uplifting Life Services are being arranged by the DeBaptiste Funeral Homes Inc. of West Chester and Bryn Mawr.
