Patsy W. Albers

Patsy Williamson Albers, age 76, of Chesapeake City, MD, formerly of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2012.

Patsy was one of the best known figures at dressage competitions throughout the United States as a director, manager, volunteer and official. She was awarded several volunteer awards throughout her life.

Patsy was a fundraiser and Chef d'Equipe for many years for the North American Junior and Young Rider Championship (NAJYRC) Region 1 team. In 2010, a new Perpetual Trophy was donated in honor of Patsy. "The Albers Award" is presented each year at the championship. Patsy's efforts enabled juniors and young riders with limited resources to try out and compete. Patsy's latest work was the 2012 Dressage at Devon where she had been the FEI Event Director for many years.

Patsy was amazing, awesome, inspirational and fun and is missed very much.

She is survived by her husband Robert Albers, her four children, Sandra Albers O'Connor, Bryan Albers, Eric Albers and Elaine Albers; as well as her brother, Randy Williamson, niece; Julie Williamson and nephew; Randy Williamson; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Friends are invited to join her family for a memorial service on Wednesday, October 17th at 4pm at St. David's Episcopal Church, 2320 Grubb Road, Wilmington, DE, where a reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the "USDF Region 1 FEI Young Riders", which may be sent to Lisa Schmidt, Region One Director, 5 Thads Hill Road, Hampton, NJ 08827.
