Richard D. Igo, 55, of Newark, DE passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home after fighting a 17 month battle with lung cancer.

Born in Wilmington, DE he was the son of the late Frank Igo and Jeanette Singles Igo.
Richard was a graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School. He worked as a pipe fitter for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local Union no.74, a trade he truly loved for the past 30 years before retiring on January 2, 2012. Richard was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, he loved to surf fish and played softball with many local softball teams. He was a great man and friend to many.
Richard is survived by his wife; Patti Fitzgerald Igo, son; David Igo, daughter; Christine Igo; step-sons; Ryan, Nathan and Brendan Lloyd, step-daughter; Meghan Lloyd, brothers; Frank, Terry, Gene (Bonnie) and Bobby Igo and his sister; Debra Igo. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife; Diane(DeStefano) Igo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19th at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th & DuPont Sts. Family and friends may visit at he Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Wednesday, December 19th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Burial will follow Mass in the Cathedral Cemetery.
