Richard J. Conlin, Sr. "Bull"

AGE: 81 • Avondale

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Rockland Place.

Born in Wilmington, Dick was the son of the late Lawrence and Agnes (O'Brien) Conlin. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he worked with his father as a Bus Driver at Delaware Coach Company. He later worked over 30 years for Delmarva Power, retiring as a supervisor. An avid sports fan Dick played football at Wilmington High School and Semi-Pro with Happy Valley. He also enjoyed playing softball. After his playing days the Bull spent many years coaching successful DP&L championship teams in the Delaware Industrial League. In his later years the Bull enjoyed watching his grandsons playing football at Salesianum and Navy as well as following the many activities of his adoring granddaughter. The Bull loved telling a good story, talking with people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Above all he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Frugoli and his brother, Dr. Lawrence Conlin DDS.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Constance "Connie" R. (Socorso) Conlin; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick J. Jr. and Cathy of Avondale, PA; his daughter and son-in-law, Patty C. Godwin and Ron of Hockessin, DE; three grandchildren, Rick Conlin III and his wife Stacy, Jessica Limardo and her husband, Rich, and Jonathan Godwin; three great grandchildren, Caci, Charlotte and D.J.; and sister, Jacqueline Corrigan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24th at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private.
