Robert E. Cox "Bob"

Robert E. Cox, age 74, of Delaware City, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 26, 1939, Bob was the son of the late William B. Cox and Mabel Harrison Cox. He honorably served his country in the US Army. Bob made his career with the PJ Fitzpatrick Company.

An avid music enthusiast, he loved playing the guitar, singing, and was a member of several local bands. In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed gardening. He was a devoted husband and father, and was happiest in the company of his beloved family.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ziemienieski Cox; daughter, Lisa A. Tanielian and husband, Michael of Camden, DE; and son, Robert E. Cox, Jr.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to their close friends, Ann and Bruce Kitchen, for the continued love and support they offered during Bob's illness.

Friends may call from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday evening, October 29, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at The Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 (
