Bob opened the doors of his first automobile shop in 1946 and was the long time proprietor of Stokes Garage in Elsmere, Delaware. For many years he has lived along the Elk River where he enjoyed: fixing anything mechanical, boating, fishing and spending time with family. He is survived by; his new wife Marilyn Lloyd Stokes, his three children and their spouses and Robert James Stokes Jr. (Donna) Gary Hugh Stokes (Mary), and Cindy Stokes DiSabatino (Pete), and Marilyn's daughter Beth Harrison and her family. Bob had nine grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Stokes III, Dustin Stokes, Jason Stokes, Peter DiSabatino (Tracy), Pam DiSabatino Chorlton (Sam), Jessica DiSabatino Terranova (Michael), Haley Stokes Watson (George), Dane Stokes (Liz), and Torey Stokes.
