Robert M. Good
The Guest Book is expired.
Bob passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, with his wife of 24 years by his side, after a long and courageous battle with melanoma.
Bob was born in Wilmington, DE on April 25, 1948 to the late, Vernon and Mary C. Good. He retired from DuPont as a manager in the Analytical Lab in 2004. He held numerous patents during his employment.
Bob was an avid golfer. He served on the Board of Governors at the DuPont Country Club, was chairman of golf, chairman of the house and was honored with the G. Gordon Mitchell Award. During his golfing career he won the DuPont CC Club Championship 3 times, came in 3rd, in the State Amateur, won the Men's DuPont Open, and the low medalist in Men's State Amateur. Bob was a member of the Delaware State Golf Association, donating his time for over 40 years. He held positions as a tournament volunteer, executive committee member, President from 1987-1990 and was the Annual Award recipient in 1990. Bob continued to be a volunteer at tournaments and during his tenure he worked tirelessly to move the DSGA to a full-time golf association.
He spent a great deal of his retired life at Callawassie Island, SC. He continued his golfing career and enjoyed the golfing, wild life and his yard. He never let the disease keep him from his golfing. His love of the game and his love of Callawassie Island gave him the courage to continue to fight. Family and friends attribute his ability to fight so long and hard against his disease was due to his love of this retirement to South Carolina.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, William Good. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Good, his brother, Donald Good (Estelle), his sister, Sharon LaBree, his in-laws, Arthur and Jean Smith, his sisters-in-law, Gail Cooke (Paul) & Sue Good. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek, on Thursday, March 21, at 12 noon, where visitation will be held beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be held privately.
