Russell Harry Mullen, 62 of Newark, DE, died suddenly on Monday, March 18, 2013 in route to Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.
Russ was born on November 19, 1950 in Wilmington, DE to the late Floyd A. Mullen and Ruth M. Hollingsworth. He attended Conrad High School and then moved to North East, MD in his senior year, graduating from North East High School. Russ joined the United States Navy in December 1968 serving in Vietnam, where he earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation and a Two Star Vietnam Service Medal. He was a civil designer and worked for several engineering companies in the area before his retirement. Russ was a member of the National Sporting Clay Association and a shooting instructor. He loved to spend time with his family traveling to Bed & Breakfast Inns.
Russ is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Cherie Edwards-Mullen and his devoted son, Sean Harry Mullen both of Newark, DE. Also surviving are his twin brother, Randall C. Mullen and two nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services in the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle on Monday, March 25 at 2:00PM, where visitation will begin at 1:00PM. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
