Shirley L. Paulsen
Shirley Louise Paulsen, 89 of Wilmington and formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana died on Sunday December 2, 2012 at Foulk Manor North where she has lived for the past 4 years.
Mrs. Paulsen was a graduate of Wiley High School in 1940 and attended Wabash Business College in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was an administrative assistant in the Alfred I. DuPont - Brandywine School Districts for 25 years until her retirement in 1985.
A devoted member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Shirley did volunteer work with the church newsletter for 11 years.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Leon O'Dell, who died in 1960. She remarried in 1967 and after 45 years of marriage, Duane Paulsen died in November 2012. She was a very loving mother and grandmother to her son, Bruce O'Dell and his wife Kathy of Wilmington, daughter, Cheryl O'Dell Champagne and her husband Wayne of Rocky Hill, CT; stepdaughters, Barbara D'Emilio and her husband James of Marietta, GA, Janet Tippett and her husband Reese of Rising Sun, MD, Nancy Allinger and her husband Patrick of Newark; grandchildren, Jonathan and Julie O'Dell, step-grandchildren, Jimmy, David, and Christopher D'Emilio, Ellen and Hannah Tippett and step great granddaughter, Emma D'Emilio.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 26, 2013 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with interment in the church's Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1314 Foulk Rd., Wilm, DE 19803.
