Thakorbhai R. Tailor, 78, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2013, in the comfort of his family. He was born in 1934, in the small town of Vyara in the state of Gujarat. He attended M.T.B. College Surat, graduating with a degree in chemistry and physics in 1956, and then joined the family textile business. Thakorbhai and Ilaben married in 1959 in Vyara. With the blessing and support of his older siblings, Thakorbhai immigrated to the United States in 1960. Professionally, Thakorbhai was employed as an engineer for several decades before moving to Delaware in 1979 to start his own businesses in the hospitality and construction industries. He spent much of his later years doing philanthropic work in India, including funding a new computer sciences school in Vyara, named after his mother Kashiben. Later, he helped fund a homeopathic hospital in Vyara, and a Rotary Club eye hospital in Gujarat. Thakorbhai made his mark on the world by helping others, family and stranger alike. In this way, he came to understand what it really means to be a human being. Thakorbhai is survived by his loving wife Ilaben; and loving sons and daughters in law, Sanjay and Kallolini Tailor of Illinois, Prayus and Jayshree Tailor of Hockessin, and Amar and Yashica Tailor of Middletown. One of the greatest joys of his life was spending time with his seven grandchildren, Shivam, Sachin, Amrita, Chirag, Ayan, Priyanka, and Dhruv. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at the Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin.
