AGE: 54 • Los Angeles, CA and Rumson, NJ
Passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Riverview Medical Center after gracefully and purposely facing a devastating illness.
Widower of his beloved wife, Lisa Casanova Quill, Tim is survived by his son, Timothy J. Quill Jr.; his four siblings, Martina (Michael) Scarrone, Teresa (John) Pfeifle, Katherine (Christopher) Quill, and Leonard (Denise) Quill; and his sister-in-law, Laura Quill. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Martina and Leonard Quill, and brother, James (Hoody) Quill. Also, he was the adored son-in-law of Barbara and Jeff Cooper.
Born and educated in Wilmington, Delaware, he headed to New York City to pursue an acting career in 1985. A student of the William Esper Acting Studio, he was discovered and signed by agent Bob McGowan. He began a long and successful acting and producing career that started with a role in the talented ensemble cast of the Vietnam War classic "Hamburger Hill". His character, Joe Beletsky, proved to serve as a defining moment for Tim in his career, and he continued to secure many parts in movies and television. After marrying actress and model Lisa Casanova, they relocated to Los Angeles, where they resided and welcomed their son, Timothy.
Other movies included most recently "Argo", also "A Plum Summer", "Listen To Me", "Hiding Out", "Staying Together", "The Closer", "Next of Kin", "2001 Maniacs", "Touch Me", and many others. Television credits included parts in "Scandal", "Private Practice", "Big Love", "Close to Home", "CSI Miami", "The Practice", "Judging Amy", "ER", "JAG", "NYPD Blue", and a host of others. Tim recently took a position with FedEx where he enjoyed the comradery.
Lisa and the "Tims" enjoyed a long term relationship with St. Monica Roman Catholic Church, Santa Monica, CA. He was involved as a volunteer with the St. Monica School and was also a participant in their youth baseball coaching. A longtime member of SAG Aftra, Tim was always up on the latest in the entertainment industry.
He charmed the world with his easy smile, and his life was filled with grace and the love of his family on the east and west coasts. A truly gentle soul, Tim will be missed by his 15 nieces and nephews, who remember him as one always ready for a celebration.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors of both Sloan Kettering and Riverview Medical as well as their staff for their exemplary care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 30, at 10:30, am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE. A visitation will take place at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 am. Interment will follow immediately at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery where he will be reunited with his beloved Lisa.
In Tim's memory, the family asks contributions to be made to the St. Monica's Catholic High School, 1030 Lincoln Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90403

Watched Hamburger Hill tonight and was sad to discover that Tim Quill had died back in 2017. The film is a firm favourite of mine, and the films ending with Tim's face is a powerful tribute to a great actor. Gone too soon. RIP Tim.

Tim was a terrific actor and although I didnt know him personally, many said he was a great guy to work with. I never knew he passed and only read about it this morning. My heart goes out to Tims son and siblings.

Tim was my neighbor in Santa Monica for many years. I was already a fan of his after seeing Hamburger Hill. He was always friendly, kind and I feel lucky to have known him and his wife Lisa in the late 90's and early 2000's. I was so sad to hear of his passing. Growing up watching his movies in the 80's, I became a loving fan of Tim.
I was just in California with a friend of mine last year 2017, from october till november and one of the places we visited on my request, was to see the school in Malibu, from Tims movie Listen To Me.
I am truly sad to read that he is gone now, and I feel for his loved ones.

I just read about Tim. I worked for Bob McGowan while he represented Tim during his "Hamburger Hill" days. I am absolutely devastated to hear about him. I knew Hoody and his mother, as well. What a sweet and kind human being. He was particularly loving towards my son, Michael. God Bless him.

It was very sad to learn of Tim's passing. I was friends with Tim during his time living in Santa Monica. I'll remember him as a kind and generous person who always thought of others.

I am so sad to learn that Tim has passed. I am just a fan but a long time fan. Since the late 1980's I was about 10 or 11 & thought I'd fell in love. I want Tim's son & all his family... siblings, nieces & nephews to know that they are being thought of & in my prayers. I was so sad to hear of Tim's passing. I first met him through my friend, Lori, at the Delcastle Park baseball field in the early 80a where he was playing baseball.
