Vesta Parks Obituary
Mrs. Parks loved being a mother to her five children. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and pinochle, and dancing. After her retirement she enjoyed walking and swimming.
Mrs. Parks is survived by her sons: Jon W. Parks and wife Lori, and Patrick N. Parks; daughters, Barbara Firchak and husband Edward, and Pamela Kopec and husband Daniel; sister, Virginia Zagara; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Parks; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, George N. Parks; 1 sister; and 1 brother. Her son, George N. Parks passed away on September 16, 2010. George was the director of the marching band at UMass Amherst. There is currently an 11K memorial tribute for George on Facebook.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, October 11, at Newark United Pentecostal Church, 73 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 from 2-3 pm followed by a service at 3 pm. Burial will be private.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. My life has been blessed to have known both Vesta (I knew her best as Kathryn and Michael's "more-mommy"!)and George. Hang on tight to each other as you grieve these concurrent losses! I grew up with Jon, Pat, George and their sisters as a young pre-teen in Birchwood Park, always had tremendous respect for Mrs Parks who was like a second mother. My sincered condolences to the family.

I've known Mrs. Parks since I started playing softball with her sons Jon and Pat nearly a dozen years ago. She was our biggest fan and loved a cold beer after the game as much as the players did. I always called her "doll". My most sincere condolences to the entire Parks family, not only for the loss of Vesta but for George as well, who I had the privilege of meeting a few times also. A difficult time for sure, but may the Lord bring peace to you all.
