William Patrick Reardon, 70, of Lewes passed away peacefully Friday, February 8, 2013 at his home surrounded by his children. He was the the son of the late Judge Francis Reardon and Mildred (Moore) Reardon of Wilmington.
Mr. Reardon is a 1961 graduate of Salesianum School in Wilmington, where he played varsity basketball. He moved to Lewes from Wilmington with his wife, Mig, in the early 1970's. He was the owner and operator of White Glove Clean Janitorial Service for more than 30 years.
He was an avid sailor and 60-year member of the Lewes Yacht Club. In December, Mr. Reardon was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for his lifelong work and commitment to the Lewes Yacht Club. He served as commodore of the club for five years in the late 1970's and early 1980's. During Mr. Reardon's tenure, the club went through a period of revitalization, which included building the swimming pool, improving the marina, and instituting a youth sailing program. In 1982, Mr. Reardon chaired a committee established by Governor Pete du Pont to host a celebration at the Lewes Yacht Club for the 35 tall ships sailing up the Delaware River to commemorate the 300th anniversary of William Penn's arrival at Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite M. (Mig) Reardon in 2002 and his three brothers, Francis D., Alfred P. and Dennis A. Reardon. He is survived by his children: William P. Reardon Jr.; Elizabeth Gellene, Marguerite Reardon Gaines and Amy Gliptis as well as their spouses. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Delp and her husband Dr. Richard Delp of Lewes; Margaret Fox of Wilmington and his brother: Lawrence Reardon and wife Peggy of Wilmington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Monday, February 18, at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Sunday, February 17 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Delaware.
