Alice H. Dryden, 86, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2014 after a short stay at Regency Healthcare on Broom St.
Alice graduated from Goldey College (now Goldey-Beacom) and went to work for General Motors, Oldsmobile Division of Wilmington where she worked for 30+ years and retired as the Secretary & Treasurer. She also worked at the Blind Center of DE. Alice especially enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church where she was active in the Sisterhood and involved in many fundraisers - making ethnic food such as perogies and stuffed cabbage.
Alice is survived by her husband of 59 years, William E. Dryden, Jr. and their 2 children, David W. Dryden (Sally) and Sandra D. Lewis (Keith); and 4 grandchildren: Wade, Adam, Jessica and Deanna; and her 3 sisters: Irene Sullick, Helen Norris and Stephanie Hojnicki. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Helen Hnida; and 2 sisters, Pauline Chrzanowski and Dorothy Scari.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Regency Healthcare for their compassionate care of Alice during her short stay.
A visitation will be held from 10-11am, Friday, January 31, followed at 11am by a Panikhida service at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway (Rt. 2 East at Duncan Rd.). Interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church, 2300 W.
