Charles "Polk" Spicer Jr., 77, of Fenwick Island, DE, formerly of Georgetown, DE died Feb 8, 2014 in Berlin, MD.

Charles was elected and served the county as Clerk of the Peace for 2 terms and one term as Sheriff. Spicer farmed with his father, was a former member of the Milford and Georgetown Police Departments and was co-owner/Broker of Spicer Realty in Georgetown and Lewes. He served nine years in the Delaware National Guard.

Spicer was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Sussex County Lodge # 2, the Red Men Nanticoke Tribe # 21 (past Great Sachem), a former member of the Georgetown/Millsboro Rotary Club (past President) and the Raymond Reynolds Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served as a Board Member of the American Cancer Society Eastern Unit. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Georgetown and Zion United Methodist Church in Bishopville, MD.

His hobbies included working on his 1987 red Jaguar convertible, his trucks, and computers. In the past he enjoyed acting with the Possum Point Players. He especially enjoyed riding around The Refuge in his golf cart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles P. Spicer and Evelyn Koster Spicer. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Winnie Bunting Spicer, his brother, Jack Spicer and wife, Maria; nephews, Timothy Spicer, Matthew Spicer (Nikki), Brian Bunting, Bain Bunting (Lori), T.J. Bunting (Megan) ; nieces, Cara Spicer Pearlman (Jeffrey) and Cassandra Spicer; brother-in-law, Tom Bunting (Cindy), uncle Melvin Koster, cousins and his pet kitty, "Sweetie Pie."

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19th, 12:00 noon at Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Carey's Cemetery in Frankford.
