AGE: 56 • Elkton, MD
Rick passed away on February 20, 2014 at his home in Elkton, Maryland. Born on April 6, 1957 in Wilmington, Delaware, Rick grew up in Hockessin and attended Thomas McKean High School. After graduating from high school, he worked for Stauffer Chemical and then at Delmarva Power for 25 years before retiring in 2008.
Rick owned a number of Harley Davidsons and would ride in motorcycle events around the country. For many years he attended annual bike events including Sturgis and Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed traveling, mostly to tropical locations. Rick was an avid Earnhardt fan and enjoyed watching the races with his friends.
He was well known for being the life of the party. Rick always enjoyed spending time with his brother (Tom Fisher) after they were both retired. While he never had children, Rick would always make time for his nieces and nephew and would be there when they needed him. Being an animal lover, Rick owned a number of dogs over his life, and treated them all as family. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Isabel (Harris) Mullins, his brother-in-law/brother, Tom Fisher, and his best buddy, his dog, Cody. Rick is survived by his sister, Margie Mullins-Fisher, of Hockessin; niece, Cortney Fisher, and great-niece, Taylor Fisher, both of Hockessin; niece, Ashlee Fisher, of Landenberg; nephew, Matt Fisher (Andrea) of Honolulu, HI. Also surviving him are loyal and trusted friends Tom Burton; Ruger, and Leigh Stewart, who never forgot him and were always there, as well as several aunts, an uncle, several cousins and many friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers of Heartland Hospice and Seasons Hospice for their compassion in Rick's final months. The family would also like to express their gratitude to his live-in caregiver, Bonnie Krakue, for her kindness to him in the final 2 weeks of his life at his home.
A Memorial Service celebrating Rick's life will be held on Friday, March 7 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30PM, with services at 6:30PM.
