AGE: 101 • Newark, DE., formerly of Morris, IL

Louse Black Walker, 101, of Newark, DE., formerly of Morris, IL, passed away March 5, 2014 at Millcroft Health Center in Newark, DE. She was born July 31, 1912 in Morris, IL, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Addie Hampton Black.

She lived in Morris until recent years when she moved to Delaware to be with her daughter and family. Louise was very involved in church activities, AFS, Morris Women's Club, DAR and enjoyed handwork projects for her church bazaars and she helped operate the family farm stand. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very important part of her life. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Millcroft Healthcare Center and Delaware Hospice for all their loving care.

Her husband of 53 years, Edward R. Walker, preceded her in death in 1987. Also preceding her in death were her son, Edward C. Walker in 2002, her brothers Robert H. and Joseph A. Black and sister in law Audrey Black. She is survived by her daughter Judy Walker Cox (Charles) of Newark, daughter-in-law Diane P. Walker of Madison, WI., sister-in-law LaVerne Black of Morris, IL; 5 grandchildren Chuck Cox (Girlfriend Cindy), Cambridge, MA., Katie Giacomelli (Rodney), Forest Hill, MD., Connie Cobb (Gordon), Livermore, CA., Angela Woolridge (Karl), of Tuscon, AZ., and Ericka Walker (Ben Wooten) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter-in-law and 3 nieces.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 292 West Main St., Newark, DE., 19711 on Monday March 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm with reception following. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Newark or Delaware Hospice c/o R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St. Newark, DE 19711.
