James R. Quinn

AGE: 90 • Galena

James R. Quinn, 90, of Galena, MD., died March 22, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Quinn was born on September 17, 1923 in Reading, PA., son of the late Daniel J. Quinn, Sr. and Mary Cornelius Quinn.

He was raised on farms in Kent County and after his marriage in 1948 began farming in the Kennedyville area. In 1959 he moved his family to the Jesuit farm in Warwick which he operated until 1988, when he retired and moved to Galena. Mr. Quinn was a member of St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, and the Cecil and Kent County Farm Bureau's. He was a founding member of both the Old Bohemia Historical Society and the Old Bohemia Council of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed wintering in Venice, FL., fishing and crabbing.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Daniel J. Quinn, Jr. and Leonard Quinn and a sister, Frances Sewell. Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice Dulin Quinn; 4 children, J. Anthony Quinn (Nancy) of Chesapeake City, MD., Cynthia Clough (David) of Jacksonville, FL., Mark Quinn (Deb) of Middletown, DE, and Jonathan Quinn (Tamie) of Warwick, MD; 2 sisters, Mary Smith of Worton, MD., and Barbara Harrington of Wilmington, DE; 7 grandchildren, Shannon Janson, Matthew Clough, Seth Quinn, Andrew Clough, Caitlan Quinn, Zoe Quinn and Logan Quinn and 3 great-grandchildren, Delia, Mark and Alice.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 27 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 28 at 11 am in St. Dennis R.C. Church, 153 N. Main St. Galena, MD. Burial will follow in Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, MD.
