Evelyn I. Ouseley passed away peacefully at home, on Friday March 28, 2014, at the age of 93, joining her husband of 72 years, Herbert A. (Herbie) Ouseley, who preceded her in death in October 2011.

Evelyn, a long-time resident of Smyrna, Delaware, was born in Chester, PA in 1920, to the late Warren and Edna Rhoades. Evelyn and Herbie lived together in Washington D.C. for 28 years, before moving back to Delaware to enjoy their retirement years close to family.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family and was a devoted volunteer at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, where she had many friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with Herbie at their favorite spots like Rehoboth Beach, Assateague Beach, Duck Creek Park, Smyrna Diner and The Hearth Restaurant.

Evelyn is also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Hanby, Elizabeth (Sissy) Payne, and Doris Roach; and her brothers, Harold (Buddy), Robert, and William (Billy).

Evelyn is survived by her sister Anna Marion of Middletown; sister-in-law Berle Bennett of Wilmington; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all of Evelyn's caregivers and the staff of Vitas Hospice for the exceptional care they provided her.

Services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday April 3 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:00 AM. Committal services and burial will be held at 2:00 PM in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
